If Jill Stein’s votes had gone to Hillary Clinton in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Florida, Donald Trump’s win would’ve been 280-258 rather than 306-232. In Pennsylvania, had all of Jill Stein’s votes and just under 20,000 of Gary Johnson’s votes gone to Hillary, too, we’d have seen a 278-260 Clinton victory. Dear third-party voters: *You* elected Donald Trump.
Some people complain about the Electoral College, “My state has been overwhelmingly [political party] for YEARZ, so my vote doesn’t count!” But how true is that assertion? I did some research and, playing the averages, it takes about 25 years for a state to cycle from one political party to the other.
